Electronic Load Banks for Aerospace Applications
The overwhelming majority of aerospace companies still validate their aircraft generators using passive (RLC) load banks. These load banks are
expensive, large in size, require very high cooling system flow rates, and dissipate all power as heat loss. It has been known for some time that electronic load
banks would offer significant advantages over traditional passive load banks. However, the technology to produce high-quality load waveforms has only recently
become available to achieve this goal.
Anderson Electric Controls, Inc. would like to introduce the POWERbank, our revolutionary new electronic load bank for aerospace generator test applications.
This load bank was designed from the ground up with cutting-edge silicon devices and a custom FPGA-based control system to deliver high quality load power
under both static and dynamic test conditions. Features include:
Output power levels up to 300+ kVA (custom power levels also available)
Very small physical footprint (usually <10 sq. ft)
Requires smaller cooling system than passive load bank (<10 gpm flow rate)
Continuously variable and adjustable load power, load power factor
Efficiencies >90% means >90% reduction in utility power required
Can simulate unbalanced loads (user-controllable)
Can simulate non-linear loads (add-on req'd)
Remote control available (Fiber-optic, Ethernet, Modbus, CAN, etc.)
High frequency inverter bridge (200-900 Hz)
POWERbank physical package (300 kVA)
